A Team Effort

In order to make available quality, affordable, clothing to our customers, we rely on our production team in the warehouse. Without our sorters for clothing and bric-a-brac, if it wasn’t for our team pricing clothing, bric-a-brac and various other items we would not be able to pay our employees.  The team back in the warehouse makes it all happen for our stores at Community Aid. As the music plays on the radio one can hear random “who-hoo” of cheering and comradery among the team. Thanks to the hard work of so many of our warehouse production crew who fuel our stores with the generous donations from our community members. Your teamwork and family atmosphere that you create while working is inspiring to all.

Community Aid Dictionary

Bric-a-brac: Souvenirs, family heirlooms, plates, mugs, or any other item you are willing to part with that has occupied too much space on your shelf, cupboard or closet.

Rooted in a Vision

Here at Community Aid we strive to meet the needs of our community members in several ways. Providing quality gently used clothing, boosting job growth by supplying jobs at our stores and warehouses and giving back to the community by presenting grants and Community Aid care cards to partnering agencies and churches.

The vision started in 2009 when Glenn Chandler, the Executive Director, thought how great it would be to start a thrift store that specifically gave a portion of its earnings right back into the community. Glenn also valued the importance of job growth and security in the community and was prepared to offer excellent work conditions, as well as, professional growth and development for future employees. Today, Community Aid employs over one hundred employees and has two locations: Mechanicsburg, PA and Hanover, PA which has become a hub for community members to shop, live and grow.

Neighbors helping Neighbors is what Community Aid is all about. If you haven't come shop in our stores, you should. It can't get much better than shopping and knowing that your money is helping a neighbor in need. Contributing to the holistic cause of Community Aid is what it is all about....neighbors helping neighbors.

Creative Moments

Community Aid staff members enjoyed being creative with their sales ideas for the Hanover Community Aid Thrift store. The staff dressed to impress as they jumped right into character to promote our Back to the 60's Sales Event. Thanks to the hard work from the team and members of the community coming out to shop....the day was a success. We are so proud of the Hanover staff.
